Coin-Op Retrofit · Self-install kit
Installing the SnackHoot bridge module
The Coin-Op Retrofit is a self-install kit: a SnackHoot QR sticker plus a bridge module you install in your own machine. Here is what installation generally involves.
General guide — kit-specific instructions ship with the module. Where your kit card differs from this page, follow the kit card.
Safety first
- Unplug the machine from the wall before opening it, and keep it unplugged until step 4.
- Don't modify the machine's mains (wall-power) wiring. The bridge module only connects to the low-voltage coin mechanism harness.
- Check your machine's warranty or lease terms first. If you're unsure about any step, use a qualified vending technician.
- Unplug the machine and open it.Switch off, unplug from the wall, then unlock and open the door.
- Find the coin mechanism harness. On most machines it's the MDB 6-pin connector going to the coin mech. The kit supports standard coin machines with this connector.
- Install the bridge module.Plug the bridge inline between the machine controller and the coin mech.
- Connect power to the module.Use the power connection described on your kit card, then close up any wiring so it can't be pinched by the door.
- Stick the QR sticker on the front.Clean and dry the spot first, at eye level near the selection panel, where customers can scan it easily.
- Power on and pair.Plug the machine back in and switch on. Pair the module in the SnackHoot app using your machine code.
- Run a test vend.Buy one item and check it shows up correctly in SnackHoot. If it doesn't, power off and recheck steps 2 to 4.
